Since 2020, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CEA Foundation has spearheaded a landmark campaign to stop the reopening of the Idaho-Maryland gold mine<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in Grass Valley, CA. Its Centennial Site was once so polluted with arsenic, lead, and mercury that it was considered for Superfund status. The proposed plan included pumping and discharging treated groundwater into the South Fork of Wolf Creek\u2014already stressed by drought\u2014and resuming mining on the ancestral homeland of the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe, a community forcibly displaced during the Gold Rush.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CEA\u00a0led a strategic, research-based campaign grounded in coalition-building and deep community engagement. Our grassroots education turned concern into action.
