Rose Foundation provides sponsorship, development, and management assistance to selected projects whose goals directly further the Foundation’s own mission. Here’s a list of projects that are currently enrolled in Rose’s fiscal sponsorship program.
CEQA Project
The CEQA Project supports advocacy to protect the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) from efforts by large developers to undermine California’s bedrock environmental law.
Fresno Building Healthy Communities
Fresno Building Healthy Communities is a coalition of residents, young people, and community-based organizations working together to foster and encourage thriving communities where all children and families can live healthy, safe, and productive lives.
Friends of Sierra Valley
Friends of Sierra Valley is an informal group of local residents concerned about the scale of the Sierra Hot Springs Masterplan, a resort development project being planned in Sierraville, CA. The Friends are: encouraging Sierra County residents and other interested parties to read and comment on the Draft Initial Study & Proposed Negative Declaration for the Sierra Hot Springs Masterplan Project, urging the Sierra County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors to VOTE NO on the draft declaration; and asking the County to prepare an environmental impact report for the Sierra Hot Springs Project that includes and studies a reduced-scale alternative that is more appropriate for Sierra Valley. The project is currently dormant.

Foundation Partnership for Corporate Responsibility educates funder colleagues about harmonizing mission goals and investment management.
Lincoln Heights Community Coalition
Lincoln Heights Community Coalition advocates for a safe, healthy, and diverse Lincoln Heights. They lead a grassroots community outreach campaign to educate residents about, and demand proper remediation of, sites of toxic pollution in Lincoln Heights- a historically polluted, low-income, immigrant community of color in Los Angeles. Their active research and community organizing has helped to uncover the forgotten history of an illegal toxic waste dump slated for development. Now, they are advocating for the appropriate investigation and remediation of the site before any construction is allowed, and for an investigation of the offsite impacts of this contamination on the surrounding neighborhood.
Little Growers, Inc.
Little Growers fights food insecurity through garden production and education. They seek to build a localized green economy that provides jobs and ownership opportunities to local residents that will restore the environment while investing in building the health, wealth, and resilience of the communities most impacted by climate change. Working with the cities of Palm Bay and Melbourne, FL, their work will focus on the role of green infrastructure, including trees and edible and native plant gardens, in climate mitigation and adaptation. Their community programs and youth garden provide education on food security and nutrition and teach skills in regenerative agriculture to the community.
rootid
rootid works to co-design spaces for strategic thinking, sustainability, and growth—using communications and technology as vehicles to advance equity. They are building a communications capacity-building collective that connects nonprofits, service providers, and funders to help grassroots nonprofit organizations scale up their communications and learn the strategies and tools necessary to drive transformational change.
Save Elephant Hill
Save Elephant Hill is a grassroots, all-volunteer community organization addressing land use and conservation issues in the Los Angeles community of El Sereno. Since 2004, they have been mobilizing the community to protect and preserve Elephant Hill, 110-acres of undeveloped urban open space in the middle of this dense, working-class Latino community. Save Elephant Hill represents the interests of El Sereno residents who, for generations, have been left out of local land use decisions and suffered the health, social and environmental consequences of disinvestment. They advance an explicit public health perspective in their work, recognizing that land use, parks and open space are social determinants of health and that biased land use decisions and lack of protections of remaining open space in highly urbanized communities are in fact public health and environmental justice issues.
Together Restoring Economic Empowerment (TREE)
TREE educates and engages young people who came of age at the turn of the century (or millennials) in positive environmental and social change. 33% of millennials identify as Black or Latino, yet 75% live near a toxic waste facility and 38% live near contributing factors for asthma. Through policy research, grassroots activism, and social media, TREE will mobilize young people using the issues they care about to address the social, environmental, and economic disparities that affect their communities.
Valley Onward
Valley Onward works to reduce health disparities and improve community health in Merced County through adult and youth resident civic engagement and community collaboration. They mobilize multi-issue grassroots racial and healthy equity campaigns to fight for equitable policies centering underserved communities and hold public institutions accountable. They train new leaders from underserved communities to seek elected office and engage in budgetary decision-making, support new and emerging neighborhood coalitions, lift up female leadership, and act as an incubator for youth seeking career paths in social justice.
Water Climate Trust
The mission of Water Climate Trust (WCT) is to protect ecosystems and communities that depend on them for food, health, jobs, recreation, and cultural survival. WCT will coordinate an existing Water for Nature Campaign, a new Just Climate Policy Campaign, and an emerging Capacity Collective. WCT will accomplish its goals through a combination of advocacy, research, education, story-telling, grassroots organizing, public-interest litigation, and capacity building to inspire and empower stakeholders and allies.
