To build on growing local and national advocacy campaigns to oppose the recently approved management plan for Point Reyes National Seashore (PRNS). Based on incomplete and inaccurate data, the approved plan locks in ranching operations on public lands in perpetuity, largely ignoring climate change, water quality impacts and extreme drought conditions. In revising the management plan for PRNS, the Park Service ignored 90% of public comments and the overwhelming opposition of over 60 environmental organizations representing millions of members. A successful outcome could provide a blueprint for other grassroots organizations to combat commercial resource extraction in National Parks. (Revised description based on grant award).
