We are seeking funding for the third and final phase of our Sespe Creek Clean Water Initiative, for which the Rose Foundation has provided core funding since 2015. This phase includes filing litigation against an oil company that operates the Sespe Oil Field in the Los Padres National Forest. The oil field is located along Sespe Creek, a tributary to the Santa Clara River and one of the last remaining wild, undammed rivers remaining in southern California. The litigation is based on storm water pollutant discharges that exceed permitted levels, in violation of the federal Clean Water Act.
