Your group is eligible for a training scholarship if you have received a grant from the Northern California Environmental Grassroots Fund in the last four years and your organization’s annual budget is below $100,000. If you have not received a grant from the Grassroots Fund, then you are not eligible.
Each group is eligible to receive up to $300 per year in training scholarships.
Eligibility Questions & Answers
Q: My group already used the $300 last year, are we still eligible?
A: You get $300 each calendar year.
Q: We don’t have an active Grassroots grant, so are we still eligible?
A: As long as you have received a Grassroots Fund grant within the last four years, you are still eligible to receive a training scholarship. Our philosophy is that the training support should extend well past the point where you may have spent the original grant.
Q: We received a grant a few years ago, but the last time we applied for a grant we were rejected?
A: As long as you received a grant within the last four years and are still generally “grassroots-sized,” you are still eligible. And just because you were rejected, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t reapply for a grant in the future. Call to get feedback on your last application, maybe we can help you better position your group for a grant from the Rose Foundation and other funders too.
Q: We received a grant, but now we are not eligible because we are too big?
A: How large has your budget grown since your last Grassroots grant? If your annual income/expense is still averaging under $100,000, or if your group had a large one-time donation or pass-through event, you may still be eligible to receive a training scholarship. Please send us an email, or call to check before you apply for the scholarship.
If you travel more than 75 miles round trip to attend the training, you are also eligible for a travel stipend. Travel stipends are provided based on distance and does NOT count against the $300 annual scholarship cap.
