¿Listo para capacitar a la próxima generación de líderes?

2015 EOY New Voices

How do we empower activists to represent our communities and protect our natural resources for future generations?

With 2016 just a few days away, this is your last opportunity to support the path-breaking work of Rose Foundation in 2015. Your donation leads to real change, elevating grassroots voices and training the community leaders of tomorrow through our award-winning Surgen nuevas voces Program.

This year, we’ve been inspired in particular by what we have seen in the tireless work of our Surgen nuevas voces Fellows, a cohort of three young community leaders chosen from our Summer Climate Justice Leadership Academy.

Nuestra Surgen nuevas voces Fellows have been busy this fall, including organizing and leading a workshop on community resilience at Oakland’s Emiliano Zapata Street Academy, participating in a East Bay MUD-led restoration day in a fire-damaged area of the Mokelumne River watershed, and commenting on why they oppose the proposed coal export terminal in Oakland through a letter campaign, testimony at a city council meeting, and presentations made at local schools and churches.

In December, the Fellows worked to recruit students and community members to participate in a rally and teach-in led by the No Coal in Oakland Coalition, as well as a Ditching Dirty Diesel Collaborative workshop on Health Impacts of Goods Movement in Alameda County.

Our Fellows are currently working on individual essays to submit to the 3rd Annual Nature’s Voices and Green School Alliance Student Stories contest, mentored by Jill and Nuevas voces alumna Pamela Tapia.

Are you ready to empower a new generation of environmental and community activists like our Nuevas voces Fellows? Your donation has the power to help young people become the environmental leaders of tomorrow, representing vulnerable communities most impacted by pollution and climate change.

Please support Rose Foundation, elevate community voices for our shared future, and make 2016 a year to remember!

Happy New Year from Rose Foundation!
