Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment (“Rose Foundation“, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its donors, funders, colleagues and friends, supporters, grantees, and program participants. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and share information, as well as your rights regarding this information.
Information Collected and Stored Automatically
When you visit our website (rosefdn.org), information about your visit is automatically gathered and stored. This information does not identify you personally and includes the following:
- The Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a university's domain);
- Your IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our Web site;
- The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
- The date and time you access our site;
- The pages you visit; and
- If you linked to our website from another website, the address of that website.
We use this information to learn more about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use which will help us make our site more useful to our visitors.

- Grant alert subscriptions;
- Emails to the organization or staff member;

- Grant applications;
- Application to our youth program;

- Event registrations; and
- Any other forms submitted through our website or vetted third-party platform links provided by us.
How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, communication (direct emails, newsletters, grant opportunity alerts, etc.), fundraising, donor stewardship, grantee support, and program implementation. We make every effort to disclose clearly how information is used at the point where it is collected so that our users can determine for themselves whether they wish to provide the information.
Sharing of Information
Rose Foundation does not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. This includes, but is not limited to, email addresses and phone numbers. Mobile Opt-in, SMS consent, and Phone Numbers collected for SMS communication purposes will not be shared with third parties and affiliates for marketing purposes or for any other purpose.
We may share information for the reasons listed below:
- To Program Funders: Specific to the program and its intended purpose, which we will clearly disclose when we collect the information. When information is shared with program funders, it’s typically in the form of aggregated reports, and we will never share contact lists.
- To Service Providers: Trusted and vetted third parties who provide software or services which assist us in operating our business, such as payment processors, email marketing platforms, and database tools. They do not sell or rent out your personal information.
- For Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
While fully complying with all legal requirements related to identifying donors and funders, Rose Foundation does not publish nor in any way disseminate the names of its donors and funders unless specifically asked to do so by the donor or funder.
Data Security
We use best practices in implementing our security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
Cookies
A “cookie” is a small piece of data that is sent to your browser from Rose Foundation’s web server and is stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies are used to collect non-identifying information about the user, such as web surfing behavior or user preferences for a specific website. Rose Foundation may use two different types of cookies — session-based and persistent cookies. Session-based cookies expire at the end of a browser session and terminate once you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your computer until you remove them. Persistent cookies are used to provide website analytics. You can manually delete all cookies, including persistent ones, within your browser privacy settings menu.
SMS Consent
If you provide us with your phone number and opt into texting, we may send you SMS messages for program- or appeal-related communications. Your consent to receive SMS messages is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes or for any other purpose. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
