Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Statement

Since our inception, Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment has worked hard to bring voices from communities who are most vulnerable to environmental hazards to the forefront of the dialogue. We have built our programs around the principle that better decisions are made when the communities most affected are at the center of the decision-making process. To do this, we must be unwavering in our commitment to fostering an environment that embraces diversity, promotes equity, ensures inclusion, and pursues justice for all. We believe that every individual, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion, socioeconomic status, or any other dimension of identity, should have the opportunity to thrive and take part in the decisions that affect their community.

Diversity:
We celebrate the rich tapestry of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that each member of our community brings. By valuing diversity, we enhance our creativity, innovation, and decision-making.

Equity:
We are dedicated to creating fair access to opportunities and resources for everyone. We recognize and actively work to dismantle systemic barriers that have historically marginalized certain groups.

Inclusion:
We strive to create a welcoming and respectful environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Inclusion means actively inviting and supporting participation from all individuals.

Justice:
We advocate for environmental justice (and in turn also social justice) and aim to address and rectify injustices within our organization and the broader society. We commit to being a voice for equity and fairness in all our actions and policies.

We invite you to join us in this important work as we strive to create a more inclusive and just world.
