About The Convening

Join us Fridays in October for 3 FREE online training sessions exploring strategies to strengthen your advocacy skills.

Workshops will discuss:

  • What 501(c)3 nonprofits can and cannot do when it comes to lobbying and elections
  • How to organize and win a local advocacy campaign
  • Tips to crafting a successful media pitch  
  • Strategies to influence officials and elected leaders 
  • And more! 

When: Every Friday, 12 – 1:30pm PDT, Oct 4th, 11th, and 18th

Grassroots organizations have a vital role to play in advocating for issues that affect their local community. Learn what your 501(c)3 group can say and do during an election year, and where the bright lines are that you cannot cross. We will explore best practices for grassroots groups engaging in elections and what you need to know to lobby as a c3.

October 11, 2024 | 12-1:30pm PT

What do you do when decision makers just won’t listen? Learn from the successful advocacy campaigns of grassroots leaders that have stopped bad development projects, secured land protections, and influenced county policy and budgeting. This panel of distinguished advocates will share their experience organizing advocacy campaigns, rallying community support, and building relationships with officials to create lasting change in their communities.

What is a media pitch? Should you make one as part of your advocacy campaign? Explore how to craft a successful media pitch and learn how grassroots community groups can use the media to effectively share their stories and advance their goals.
